Here are my notes about the book: The main point is: you only have a business if you have paying customers. It's reasonable that you test your price hypothesis since the day one. The book teaches you how to bootstrap a business idea in 7 days, from idea to launch, with less than $100. In a nutshell: Day 1 - Bootstrap the business idea Day 2 - MVP Day 3 - Business name Day 4 - Website Day 5 - Market your business Day 6 - Set targets Day 7 - Launch Some interesting notes: - 'A wantrepreneur is someone who wa...more
Despite what you might think based on the '7 Day Startup' title, it's not a gimmick by any means - sure it sounds like a dream to start something in 7 days but with Dan's advice you'll be setting a good trajectory if you do and honestly probably better off than many of us who normally overthink it and make a whole lot of assumptions without testing any of them. Even if your goal isn't starting in 7 days, his is a very practical book with quality advice from someone who is transparent about their...more
7 Days startup Notes 1. - Business ideas are not business. - Need to launch a business to see where it goes and learn from it. - Wantrepreneur (have ideas and want to start a business) -> Entrepreneur (actually start a business) 2. - A business is way different than a startup. - A startup has: + High impact potential. + High levels of innovation. + High levels of uncertainty. - It's not ideal to do everything on oneself own -> find somebody to go with. - 3 important factors a startup needs: + Idea...more

Get off your ass. You only have 7 days to launch! It's amazing what you can do when you have a tight deadline. It gives day-by-day actions to get your startup started.
I finished the 7 day startup written by Dan Norris yesterday, and I have been eager to share some thoughts on it. This book touches on probably one of the most popular subjects to talk on, and I was a bit disappointed. I had expected him to upon up the world of startup, but I left empty handed. He writes superficial and way too simplistic. I did get some good things out of it, as he was sharing a lot on his own personal experiences in startup. It is clear that this is an independent production,...more

The 7 Day Startup is a simplified manual on how to get your business from idea to launch in 7 days. It’s a very quick read (I got through it in one sitting) but doesn’t lack value. The book is packed with tools, resources, interesting perspectives, and practical actionable advice. Although it doesn’t go super in-depth on some of the facets covered, I got the impression that was intentional. The author references several other business books throughout the duration of this book (The Lean Startup...more
I truly liked this guy's down-to-earth style and advice, whether it is applied to a startup (probably not for everyone), a new project at work/home, or a volunteering mission. My favorite two sentences from the whole book were: (1) 'people don't know what they don't want until they are forced to open their wallets,' and (2) 'free users are not the same as paying customers.' These two, and the general remark about how useless it is to obsess about media coverage, the logo design, or the elevator p...more
I think 7 days is a very ambitious timeframe to start a business, but Dan Norris certainly gives a very practical step-by-step process on how to do it. Mind you, he's a software entrepreneur, so obviously that makes a big difference on speed. Most people simply can't make their ideas come to fruition so quickly. However, it is certainly true that we waste a heck of a lot of time when it comes to doing a startup. And by giving ourselves some realistic deadlines, I think we'd all be pleasantly sur...more

Recommends it for: People wanting motivation to set their business
Very inspirational and motivational, easy to read (I'm not an English speaker, but it was very understanding to me). The only negative point I find about this book : it's looks more like a (very) long blog article from a webentrepreneur than a real book. It's not the next 'Zero To One', but it's definitely worth the reading.
What's interesting is the autor failed many times and succeeded on his last try in 7 days, without planing or thinking so much. He had time to think more after the launch, talking with real customers.

It's portrays the exact mindset that a startup owner should have I really enjoyed the book :D Usually, I'm the kind of guy that gets sold by numbers, but the book practically encourages the 'find the numbers on your own' kind of thinking. Lived it, loved it!

Perfect when you are thinking about to start something.
Didn't find the tips to be very actionable personally; often too vague

4 stars for the inspiration. 4 stars for stuff that's common sense but need reminding of. 4 stars for the brevity.
Great motivator Worthy read for new start-ups and existing businesses. Easy steps that are simple and motivational. Success that starts with a quick launch, without the bulls@#t

Love how Dan makes starting a business so easy. Just re-read the book as I'm pondering on trying out a new business idea :p
Another great book by Dan Norris This book is filled with tons of real world and valuable tips to quickly build a company.. Dan changes the way you think about a startup.
A must-read for first-time entrepreneurs that are wondering how to start. It covers everything you need to know to set things in motion quickly. I've rated it 4/5 because it's fairly focused on the business type that the author is familiar with but most of the ideas can be applied to all sorts of other verticals.

Helpful Helpful, practical, do-able. One of a handful of books that effectively explains how to succeed through start-up. I will be putting these principles into practice.

The book is good is mixture between the most relevant books on entrepreneurship and the author's key lessons on his entrepreneurial journey. Another good mention, the book highlight the wantrepreneur state. with the startup bubble everybody wanna come up with the next Facebook or Uber, but few people will put the right effort to make it happen. Piece of advice: After reading the book, try to deal/cope with any wantrepreneur trait, then you will be good go.

Reviewed as part of my 100 books challenge: http://jimmylongley.com/blog/books/ Run-on Sentence Summary A little startup book that stresses the importance of getting in front of customers as soon as possible. Impressions The core idea of this book is that far too many potential startup founders spend way too much energy on an idea and not nearly enough validating it and finding customers. As a challenge, he insists that you should launch within one week in order to immediately start evaluating if th...more

This book is amazing! It sparks the fire again! There are some really great ideas how to build a Startup in 7 days and get the most out of it. Of course, this can be hard to accomplish, but the advice from the author will help you get there. There are some really good points like focusing on retention and product, test every assumption and don't waste your time doing stuff which are senseless. Yes, the author puts some kind of a template to which your idea should conform, but I also really think...more

Very nice book to show you that you CAN build a business in 7 days. After reading the Lean Startup, I held validation in a pedestal, but this book teaches you that validation is not the holy grail of starting a business, and that work (and fun) really only starts AFTER you've launched. Any other task that doesn't help you to that purpose is pretty much useless. It also provides general business advice that will be very helpful for first time entrepreneurs (as myself). Thank you for the book, Dan...more

So I've been in the 'wantrepreneur' category for almost as long as I can remember. I always find myself talking about building something, but I'm always either afraid to start or I fail to follow through. This book was the encouragement I needed to just get started and trust that I have enough knowledge. The scariest part of the book is that I may run counter to a lot of the wisdom you've read in other places. I think a strong ability to integrate what this book says with what you already know is...more
quick and dirty. This book cuts through a lot of the startup glamour and gets right in to what you really need to work on if you want to start something that makes money relatively quickly. Fancy logos and expensive marketing software just isn't needed in the beginning. Seems obvious, but as they say, common sense ain't that common. It's a quick read so do yourself a favor and pick it up.
Most practical book for starting fast When I got this book I thought starting a business in 7 days was not possible. This book changed my mind. My new business launches in 3 days. Starting at the beginning this book gives practical advice for what to accomplish on each day. While the advice won't work with every business it will work.

The 7 Day Startup: You Don’t Learn Until You Launch ebook EPUB/PDF/PRC/MOBI/AZW3
Guiding a startup takes a lot of time. Startups have become the modern version of the American dream. Thousands of people around the world invest their hard-earned time, money, and energy into their hope for the “next big thing”. Most of us know (and expect) that reaching that dream of the “next big thing” it will take years of networking, sales, and marketing before we even reach a tiny portion of success.
Dan Norris says that you can skip all of that and become profitable business in 7 days.
Change What You Believe About Startups & Business

Dan Norris used to be a believer in the “it takes a long time and lot of money to build a startup” argument until he tried something different. In his book, The 7 Day Startup: You Don’t Learn Until You Launch, Norris briefly describes how a series of business failures following the traditional advice concerning launching a business made him question the logic of it all.
Frustrated, he trashed just about all of the knowledge he had previously learned about launching a business. Some of that knowledge included assumptions like:

Creating a great product means sales (if you build it, they will come).
Surveys reveal what customers really feel about your product or service.
Going viral is the key to online success.
Having email subscribers means willing and loyal customers.
Frustrated, he tried something different. To really focus on making money and eliminating waste, he set a deadline of 1 week to launch a new business idea. That business was WP Curve, a WordPress technical support subscription service that allows unlimited WordPress support. WPCurve became a roaring a success.
The principles and lessons he learned from that experience are shared in the 131 pages of The 7 Day Startup.
Digging Deeper: What’s Behind The 7 Day Startup?
Day 1: The foundation of The 7 Day Startup begins with two distinct concepts, a Bootstrapped Business Idea and an MVP (Minimum Viable Product). Norris spends more time on the Bootstrapped Business Idea than any other concept in the book. The Bootstrapped Business Idea is a bare-bones outline of a product or service that is immediately profitable and can scale quickly. The reasoning behind the Bootstrapped Business Idea is the move to implementation.
Instead of drowning in marketing plans, readers are encouraged to find something that works and move quickly to implementation. To help readers identify if their idea can be considered a Bootstrapped Business Idea, Norris identifies 9 characteristics. Four of those characteristics include:
Product/founder fit
Scalable
Operates profitably without the constant involvement of the founder
Large market potential
Day 2: Once you have your Bootstrapped Business Idea, the next step is to create your MVP, Minimum Viable Product, a concept derived from product development. As defined by Norris, your MVP is a product or service you create that can offer a benefit to your user while requiring the smallest work from you to create. In other words, narrow down your product to its core service and offer that instead of trying to load a product with thousands of features people won’t use anyway.
Days 3-7: Once you have your Boostrapped Business Idea and MVP, the rest of the book covers marketing and promotion of your product. On Day 3, you choose a name for your business idea. On Day 4, you create a website. On Days 5 and 6, you determine your marketing options and targets. Finally, on Day 7 – you launch.
Who is The 7 Day Startup For and Can It Help?
The 7 Day Startup Pdf Download Torrent Software
The 7 Day Startup actually describes the intended audience for this book exactly: entrepreneurs (emphasis on startups), “wantepreneurs,” freelancers and bootstrappers. The book is well-suited for that purpose because it provides quick, actionable insights and recommendations that would be most beneficial for these groups. If you own a small business, the concepts of product development and marketing can be put into action immediately. If you own a larger business, you might be able to pull off some of the recommendations, but it will definitely take more time.
The 7 Day Startup follows along a trend of other “get your business done in a week” books. This book’s tack is to tie in lean business principles with a launch to get results, which is a unique concept, even if some of the methods used to get there are the same you would find in any marketing book. For some business owners, this might be the perfect thing to help them eliminate waste and promote efficiency. For others (especially a bigger business), this book might focus on moving too fast too soon. It presumes that you can come up with a unique business idea in a relatively short time and move to production very quickly, which is hard to do in the competitive market that we live in today.
